Border policeman stabbed in Hebron

Third stabbing since end of Gaza pullout; soldier moderately wounded after attack at Cave of the Patriarchs
Efrat Weiss|Updated:
A border policeman was moderately wounded Friday after being stabbed by a Palestinian terrorist near Hebron's Cave of the Patriarchs.
The officer was evacuated to Hadassah University Hospital at Ein Kerem in Jerusalem.
No Palestinian faction claimed responsibility for the attack, but it would appear to confirm defense official's predictions that Hamas, and other groups, would try to avenge the killing of 5 activists in Tul Karem Thursday.
Third this week
The attack was the latest in a wave of stabbings since Israel dismantled towns in the Gaza Strip earlier this week.
Wednesday, a 21-year-old yeshiva student, Shmuel Matt, was killed and a friend injured in the Old City of Jerusalem by a Palestinian yielding a large kitchen knife.
The Palestinian fled from the scene, and security forces have yet to apprehend the suspect.
