The IDF raised its alert level Tuesday afternoon for fear that a terrorist was trying to infiltrate Israel in order to carry out a terror attack.
The defense establishment received intelligence information Tuesday, which included a warning on a terrorist's plan to leave the Nablus area and carry out a terror attack inside Israel. In light of the information, the army boosted its operations across the West Bank by setting up additional checkpoints and boosting security checks in the crossings.
Security forces are focusing on the Jerusalem vicinity and the Seam Line. Magen David Adom rescue services also raised their alert level following the warning.
16 concrete warnings
The defense establishment currently holds 86 general terror attack warnings, 16 of them concrete warnings. Most of the warnings came from the northern West Bank, and a considerable number of them refer to the Islamic Jihad organization.
Defense Minister Amir Peretz recently ordered the army to ease the siege imposed on the West Bank since the holiday of Purim. IDF soldiers have been operating in recent weeks against terror infrastructures in the northern West Bank and Nablus, which are trying to carry out terror attacks in Israel.
Also Tuesday, a special Border Guard force detained a wanted Palestinian terror suspect, member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. He was taken into interrogation by security forces.
