Jordan to Israel: Clear Palestinians from royal palace

State asked to demolish illegal structure built on Jerusalem property once owned by Jordanian royal family

Jordan has asked that Israel demolish a Palestinian structure in Jerusalem that was built on property once owned by the Jordanian royal family.
In 1966 the late King Hussein began construction on a lavish palace at the site, but the Six Day War interrupted his plans; the palace’s foundation remains standing to this day.
In 1967 the land became State property.
In the past few years the Jerusalem Municipality has destroyed several illegal structures built by Palestinians on the land, and now the Jordanians are asking that one such structure, which was built in close proximity to the palace, be demolished as well.
Municipality officials said the necessary steps for destroying the structure are already being taken.
