Army forces entered Nablus and its neighboring refugee camps on Friday night and conducted searches for wanted suspects in the area. According to the Palestinians, exchanges of fire have been raging in Nablus and the region between army forces and local gunmen since Friday night.
Commenting on Saturday's operation, the IDF said that troops encircled a structure in town where senior Fatah suspects were believed to be hiding. The soldiers called on the men to surrender themselves, and began demolishing the building after their calls were not answered.
Palestinian sources in Nablus reported earlier that a 17-year-old youngster was killed by the IDF Saturday morning in the course of a military arrest raid in town.
