The families of the "October Council" responded to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to head the ministerial committee that will determine the mandate of the commission of inquiry. They stated that "the government continues to spit in the faces of bereaved families, hostage survivors, families of the kidnapped, families of the murdered, residents of the south and north, reservists and all citizens of Israel." According to them, "The decision by one of the main suspects in the commission of inquiry to be the one who determines its mandate is a disgrace that will be remembered for generations. You, the subjects of the investigation, will not disrupt the investigation or whitewash the truth. You have declared war on us, on the memory of our loved ones and on the future of our children."
