For the past few days, Yad Vashem employees have been working intensively on translating large portions of its website into Persian as a response to Iran 'sHolocaust denial and it's grave anti-Semitic propaganda that reached its peak at the Holocaust deniers conference that was held in Tehran this week.
The Yad Vashem Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority was established in Jerusalem in 1953.
According to Yad Vashem's Chairman Avner Shalev, the Yad Vashem website receives about 20,000 visitors from Muslim countries, including Iran, per year.
For this reason, it has been decided that great portions of the website, including information on the Holocaust, will be translated into the Arabic and Persian languages.
In addition, Yad Vashem will produce audio guides in Arabic for the Holocaust museum.
Up until Wednesday night, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from 40 countries confirmed their participation in the special emergency conference that is being held on Thursday as Yad Vashem's response to the Holocaust deniers conference in Iran.
In Thursday's conference, which has been titled “Holocaust Denial: Paving the Way to Genocide", the Yad Vashem leaders will urge the governments of the world to act against the anti-Semitic expressions and calls for genocide coming from Tehran.
