A mortar shell was fired Tuesday morning from the Gaza Strip and landed near the Karni crossing.
One person was lightly injured and evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva. A truck at the place sustained slight damages.
Despite of the attack, the crossing remains open.
Two weeks ago, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas agreed that the security checks at the crossings will be improved, in order to allow 400 trucks a day to move between Israel and Gaza.
No rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza in the last three days. On Friday, however, 10 Qassams were launched at the western Negev and Ashkelon.
Meanwhile, the coalition decided Monday to support an accelerated law which would permit the securing of homes in the Gaza vicinity communities.
The law, costing NIS 400 million (USD 95 million), would replace the expected budget break in a Knesset vote Tuesday. MK Shai Hermesh (Kadima), a resident of Kfar Gaza in the Gaza vicinity communities, initiated the law.
