Amos Kollek, the son of late Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, said Tuesday that his father was in love with the city and not his post.
"Father much loved the position of mayor. Since Jerusalem was united in 1967, my father found it his mission to advance the city.
"He was always excited about things related to work: He woke up at 5.30 in the morning, opened the town hall gates, and worked there until late at night. He was someone who loved his job, which was Jerusalem," he said.
Amos is a film director. He briefly included in father in some productions.
"I did a documentary about him 11 years agao, and he also appeared in two films in small tasks of one minute, in both appearances he played himself. One of the films was with Faye Dunaway 15 years ago," he said.
Towards the end of his father's tenure as mayor of the capital, Amos wrote his father's biography, 'One Jerusalem.'
"He was a very busy father, but he was also a father. Very committed to the family … He was very connected to his grandchildren. To two of my sister's three children and to my two daughters.
"The last two to three days he was not conscious. He had a lung infection which signaled a deterioration," Amos said.
