Katsav complainant sues for libel

Katsav’s attorney sued for libel following radio interview accusing complainant of prostitution

A libel case was filed against one of President Moshe Katsav’s attorneys by the complainant in the rape charges against the president.
The complainant was suing Attorney Amnon Shomron for NIS 50,000 (USD 12,000) following an Army Radio interview he gave Wednesday in which he said that she used to work as a prostitute.
The indictment claimed that the complainant had never been involved in prostitution or any sexual services in exchange for money.
Attorney Kinneret Braschi, representing the complainant, said that Shomron did not know her client, nor had he even met her, but that he frivolously decided to taint her reputation with his comments.
Braschi also said that Shomron described the complainant in terms that would lower her status and hurt her credibility.
The indictment was filed at the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court. An answer has yet to be filed.
