Senior retired officials: 'Opposition to Zini's appointment as Shin Bet chief stems from fear of change'

|
Senior reserve officers expressed support for the appointment of David Zini as head of the Shin Bet. Reserve Brigadier General Erez Weiner said, "He is the right person at the right time for the Shin Bet now. To all those concerned about 'moving their cheese,' I am more worried about the possibility of another October 7." Reserve Brigadier General Oron Solomon stated, "When I served as head of the October 7 war investigation team, Zini was among the few thousands who sought contact on that difficult morning - we need him as head of the Shin Bet." Reserve Colonel, Professor Gabi Siboni, made similar comments: "The Shin Bet needs leadership that can fundamentally refresh the organization, address security challenges and restore public confidence in it."
