Dozens of left-wing protesters erected a mock outpost in the E-1 area, a stretch of land between Ma'aleh Adumim and Jerusalem, where future Israeli settlementexpansions have been approved.
The activists claimed that they were protesting the Israeli government's tacit and overt approval for widening Jewish settlement blocs in the West Bank in contradiction with its promises to curtail such activity.
The demonstrators were evicted by police forces. Nine were held for questioning.
Around 40 protestors from Israel and abroad arrived at the site Saturday morning and put up a cement structure.
They claimed the act was meant to emphasize the fact that, despite official Israeli declarations, Israel is not intent on achieving peace.
"We want to evacuate, but no one intends to evacuate the illegal outpost that is located very close to us and that is a policy of Apartheid," demonstrator Yonatan Pollack told Ynet in reference to other illegal outposts set up by Israeli settlers in the area.

Pollack claims that Israel is looking out for Jewish settlers' interests while at the same time doing nothing to help alleviate the hardships faced by Palestinian residents of the area.
"The country has decided to that these lands are State lands, but it doesn't think at all about building residential buildings for the Palestinians residents, they are for settlers only.
"This is apparently Israel's way to preserve and widen the settlement blocs while are the same time claiming at Annapolis that Israel wants peace," he explained.
Police released a statement saying that all the protestors left the site and that nine were detained for investigation for participating in an illegal gathering.
Meanwhile, the right-wing organization Ne'emanei Eretz Israel, which recently erected five illegal outposts ,has announced that it will erect three new outposts in the West Bank on Sunday: The outposts named Givat Ha'Or, Maoz Esther, and E-1, will be put up in areas northeast of Ramallah and east of Jerusalem.
The group also announced it plans to return to the five previous outposts it had erected which have all been evacuated .According to the activists, their intention is "to strengthen the link of the nation of Israel to the Land of Israel and to continue the spirit of belief and heroism through trust in God in the way of the Maccabees."
