Al-Qaeda: Muslims on verge of historic victory

American al-Qaeda member calls on Pakistanis to unite, establish Islamic state
Associated Press|
A prominent American member of al-Qaeda says Muslims are on the verge of a "historic victory," while calling on Pakistanis to put aside their differences and unite to establish an Islamic state.
In an English-language video message, Adam Gadahn says the current Pakistani government is responsible for the deaths of more Muslims than the American "crusaders."
Despite Pakistan's support for the US-led war on terror, the country's commitment to the cause has been highlighted by question marks. Meanwhile, the backing offered to the American Administration has prompted a great backlash among Pakistanis, especially in the wake of recent US strikes in Pakistani territory.
In a clip of the video distributed Saturday by the SITE Intelligence Group, a Washington-based monitor of militant websites, Gadahn pointed to the current US economic crisis that has shaken up Wall Street as proof that Muslims are on the verge of a historic victory.
Gadahn grew up in Los Angeles. The FBI says he moved to Pakistan in 1998 and attended an al-Qaeda training camp six years later, serving as a translator and consultant for the group.
