IDF tanks opens fire on suspected Gaza gunman, 2 hurt

Tank opens fire on gunman who apparently planted bomb along border fence, identifies hit; Palestinians say two injured
Hanan Greenberg|
An IDF tank opened fire Friday evening on a Palestinian who was suspected of planting an explosive device along the Gaza-Israel border fence, in the Nahal Oz area.
Army forces identified a hit, and Palestinian sources in the Hamas-ruled territory said two people were lightly wounded in the incident.
The Israel-Gaza border has remained relatively quite since Operation Cast Lead ,but it has seen several incidents similar to the one involving the IDF tank, and Palestinian gunmen have launched sporadic rocket attacks on Israel's Negev region.
The IDF usually responds to the rocket attacks with aerial strikes on arms-smuggling tunnels in south Gaza or on Hamas structures that are used as weapons caches.
