A weapon on Friday was stolen from a police vehicle near the northern city of Migdal Haemek. Police arrested two 27 and 29-year-old suspects from the area, in suspicion of involvement.
The stolen weapon was located in a police intelligence operation. An investigating officer appointed Friday morning by Northern District Commander Major-General Shimon Koren and Ha'amakim district police Deputy Inspector General Nissim Levy will continue to investigate the affair, due to its unusual severity.
Last month, several arms were stolen from a police facility in the north, the theft was discovered after police officers arrived at the facility and noticed the weapons they and the volunteers use on a daily basis were missing.
The burglars took advantage of the facility's location – only dozens of meters from an inter-urban highway, which allowed them to escape relatively easily.
A police source noted that no prior information was received about a possible burglary at the site.
