Security service director decides to discipline head of department suspected of conflict of interests

A head of department in Israel's general security service, the Shin Bet, has been suspended on suspicion of promoting female workers he had a personal relationship with.
A conflict of interest complaint was filed against the senior official several months ago. After an initial examination of the complaint, the Civil Service commissioner ordered the Shin Bet to launch an internal investigation.
In light of the man's seniority and his key role in the organization, Shin Bet Chief Yuval Diskin decided that an external probe was required and handed the affair over to the Civil Service Commission.
The Civil Service Commission's conclusions were submitted to Diskin this week. As reported by Channel 10 on Tuesday, the Shin Bet chief decided to suspend and discipline the official.
