Japan, After Trump Demand: 'Not Currently Planning to Send Forces to Strait of Hormuz'

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said her country is not currently planning to send military vessels to secure ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Takaichi, who made the remarks after U.S. President Donald Trump made clear he is demanding other countries help defend the strait, added that Japan continues to examine what it can do in this regard and that the U.S. has not yet submitted a formal request for assistance.
