Latvia's Defense Minister Andris Sprūds resigned from his position after air defense systems failed to intercept two drones that penetrated the Baltic state's territory from Russia last week. The drones exploded near an empty oil depot near the city of Rēzekne. According to the Latvian Defense Ministry, the drones were launched from Ukraine toward targets in Russia. The minister was forced to resign due to public criticism over the Latvian military's lack of preparedness to deal with drone incursions.
