97 pure gold coins and dozens of gold earring fragments inlaid with pearls, semi-precious stones and glass were uncovered in archaeological excavations in the ancient city of Hippos near the Sea of Galilee. The coins date back 1,400 to 1,500 years and were found in excavations conducted by researchers from the University of Haifa.
