The security establishment has decided to transfer responsibility for enforcement in Areas A and B from the IDF to the Border Police in the West Bank, headed by Chief Superintendent Nisso Guetta, Ynet has learned. The decision was made by the IDF Central Command, together with the Shin Bet and the Judea and Samaria District of the Israel Police, following operational gaps that were identified. According to security sources, the current structure, under which the IDF operates in Areas A and B and the police operate in Area C, creates "dead zones" in terms of enforcement. Soldiers are not trained in arresting Israeli civilians, and the police are required to coordinate their arrival in the areas in a way that makes it difficult for them to reach the scene in real time.
