Israeli intelligence agents launched an influence campaign targeting senior figures in Tehran to divide and undermine the regime, hours after Israel began its war against Iran on June 13. This was reported by three sources familiar with the details to The Washington Post, who added that about 20 Iranian officials received phone calls warning they could die if they didn't stop supporting the regime. The operation was carried out through phone calls, letters left at military personnel's doorsteps and messages delivered through the recipients' spouses. In a recording obtained by The Washington Post, an Israeli agent can be heard threatening in Persian: "You have 12 hours to flee with your wife and child, otherwise you're on the list."
