The IDF approved several weeks ago for the United Arab Emirates to advance their initiative to connect a water line from the desalination plant in Egypt to the Al-Mawasi area along the coastal route, in accordance with political leadership directives. The water line is expected to serve about 600,000 residents in the area and will operate independently of water lines from Israel. Representatives of the UAE began bringing equipment for the project from Egypt today in a supervised manner and after rigorous security inspection through the Kerem Shalom crossing. Construction work on the line will begin in the coming days and continue for several weeks.
