Nasry "Tito" Asfura, leader of the right-wing National Party in Honduras, won the country's presidential election held on November 30. This was announced by the body responsible for elections in the Central American nation, after weeks of delays in publishing results, technical problems and allegations of fraud. Asfura was the preferred candidate of US President Donald Trump, who even called on Honduran citizens to vote for him on election day. Asfura (67) is the son of Palestinian immigrants who migrated to Central America in the 1940s. He received 40.3% of the votes, defeating his main rival Salvador Nasrallah, leader of the center-right Liberal Party, who received 39.5%.
