Foreign Ministry: Michael Lotem to be first ambassador to Somaliland, Yahel Vilan to Singapore

The Foreign Ministry's Appointments Committee for the appointment of heads of diplomatic missions abroad has decided on the following appointments: Yahel Vilan, who previously served as ambassador to Kenya and Serbia, has been appointed as Israel's ambassador to Singapore and East Timor; Michael Lotem, who currently serves as a roving (non-resident) economic ambassador to the African continent and previously served as ambassador to Kenya, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, has been appointed as the first ambassador to Somaliland. In the first stage, Lotem will be a non-resident ambassador to Somaliland. The appointments require approval by the Ministerial Committee for Appointments in the Foreign Service and government approval.
