The African big-headed ant, considered one of the 100 most harmful invasive species in the world, was recently identified in the Neve Sha'anan neighborhood in Haifa. This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, which added that reports of its presence in other areas of the city are being investigated. The ant is not harmful to human health but could cause significant damage to ecological systems and inflict severe harm to agriculture. The ministry is calling on the public to report suspected sightings, along with photos and as precise a location as possible, to the email address: [email protected].
