The prosecution announced it has filed two indictments with the Nazareth District Court against former Mayor Ali Salam, crime organization leader Samir Bakri and a series of additional defendants. The charges relate to systematic theft from the Nazareth municipality coffers during the years 2015–2025, using a security company as a front and fraudulent diversion of public funds, alongside extortion offenses, money laundering, tax offenses and bribery committed by the Bakri crime family. The prosecution is seeking to confiscate approximately 61 million shekels and detention until the end of proceedings.
