A European shipment of humanitarian aid arrived at Gaza Strip via the Port of el-Arish in Egypt, Ynet learned Wednesday.
The sail was coordinated with Egyptian authorities and transferred to Gaza in what IDF sources described as "proof there is no need to breach the Gaza blockade ."
"This proves the flotilla isnothing but a provocative measure, that it has nothing to do with a wish to supply humanitarian aid," an IDF source said.
The shipment – which was part of the "Miles of Smiles" project – included 30 tons of medical equipment, 12 ambulances and baby food. It was organized by 10 European groups and sailed off the coast to Venice.
- It arrives in Alexandria on June 16 and then sailed to the Port of el-Arish, where the goods were unloaded and transferred to Gaza via the Rafah crossing, i.e. – by land.
Dozens of the project's activists flew into Cairo simultaneously and entered Gaza through Rafah crossing. This part of the aid mission was also duly coordinated with Cairo.
