Britain's interior minister says an urgent inquiry is under way after an Islamic activist was able to travel to the UK despite being banned from entering the country.
Home Secretary Theresa May confirmed Wednesday that Sheikh Raed Salah ofthe Islamic Movement in Israel was detained late on Tuesday by police.
Mrs May said: "We do not normally comment on individual cases but in this case I think it is important to do so.
"I can confirm he was excluded and that he managed to enter the UK. He has now been detained and the UK Border Agency is now making arrangements to remove him," she said.
"A full investigation is now taking place into how he was able to enter."
- Salah had previously been banned from traveling to the UK, but was able to evade border checks.
MKs Ahmad Tibi and Hanna Swaid met with Alistair Burt, Under Secretary of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and have called for Salah's immediate release. "The arrest is wholly undemocratic," they said.
MK Talab El-Sana boycotted the meeting. "I decided to boycott the meeting due to the hypocrisy of the English who serve the Israeli government.
"Britain systematically endorses injustices performed by the Israeli government which breaks international law, and helps perpetuate the occupation."
Sarah Colborne, Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) director, claimed that Salah was the leader of a legitimate political organization.
