The al-Arabiya network reported Sunday that a document allegedly proving Israel influenced the UN tribunal investigating former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri's murder is false.
In a Saturday speech HezbollahSecretary-General Hassan Nasrallah presented a document allegedly proving the transfer of 97 computers from the tribunal in Beirut to Israel via the Naqoura crossing.
According to al-Arabiya, the document is signed by the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) and has no link to the Special Tribunal For Lebanon (STL) which is investigating the assassination.
Nasrallah produced a document dated July 2008 which has the signature of Israel customs official Liora Menachem. "It's strange that these computers were transferred via the Naqoura crossing to Israel. Why weren't they transferred from the airport? What were they doing in Israel?," he said.
- The UNTSO website specifically states that the organization, which was established in 1948, is active in Israel. It is likely that the computers were destined for the group's offices in Jerusalem.
On Saturday, Nasrallah addressed the indictments filed against Hezbollah members for their involvement in Hariri's assassination.
The arrests, Nasrallah said, are "another step in the long journey whose path is becoming clearer after Israel's defeat and the triumph of the resistance in the last war".
