An IDF soldier from the Givati Brigade was moderately injured Monday when he was shot in the back during a drill in the Golan Heights. He was evacuated to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
The soldier was apparently shot accidentally by one of his comrades during a military drill.
The Givati Brigade arrived at the Golan Heights a few weeks ago for an outdoor training period. Monday's drill included exercises both with and without live fire.

Following the incident the head of Northern Command, Major General Yair Golan, decided to halt the brigade's drills until further notice. He also ordered a preliminary investigation.
Meanwhile, a separate probe was opened by the investigating military police to exaime whether the incident occurred do to criminal aspects. Negligence or improper preparation for the drill.
