Report: Shalit talks to resume next week

Israel and Hamas will attempt to resume the negotiations meant to secure the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit next week, the London-based Arabic-language newspaper al-Hayat reported on Sunday.
According to the report, Egyptian Intelligence Minister Murad Muwafi met with Hamas Politburo Chief Khaled Mashaal during a recent visit to Mecca, and the two discussed the possibility of striking a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas.

Direct negotiations to that effect are set to resume after the Eid al-Fitr holiday, i.e. – next week.
The newspaper further stated that Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hamad had returned to Gaza from a visit to Cairo, where he negotiated security arrangements pertaining to the Gaza-Egypt order.
Some 10 days ago, a senior Egyptian source claimed that the recent round of Shalit talks had deadlocked.
