Air Force jets struck a weapons factory in the northern Gaza Strip overnight in retaliation to Gaza rockets fired at Israel over the weekend. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that the aircraft carried out direct hits.
Palestinian health official Adham Abu Salmia said that a 12-year-old girl and her father were injured from shrapnel when the IAF missile hit the home of a Gaza militant who was not home at the time.
On Saturday night, the last of 17 rockets fired at Israel over the weekend landed in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that the strike was in response to the continued firing of high-trajectory weapons at Israel. "The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to hurt Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers and will continue to act resolutely against any element which terrorizes the State of Israel," the statement said. "We are holding the Hamas terrorist group accountable. "
The firing of rockets from Gaza followed a long respite and was prompted by the killing ofAssam Subahi Ismail Batash who sent a terror cell to Egypt.
- On Saturday morning four Gaza rockets exploded in open areas in the Eshkol and Hof Ashkelon councils. They were fired hours after IAF jets attacked a target in Gaza.
On Friday, a total of 12 rockets were fired Israel including two which landed in Ashdod and Be'er Tuvia.
