An indictment has been filed against Barak Hirchson ,28, for driving under the influence despite 22 previous traffic offences on his record.
Hirchson, the son of former Finance Minister Minister Avraham Hirchson ,caused an accident earlier this week while driving his motorcycle which had left his girlfriend, who was his passenger, is in critical condition.

Hirchson was released to house arrest despite strong objection from the police. Police officials noted that the defendant's license has previously been revoked and he had been sentenced to probation.
Police are charging him with driving under the influence and aggravated battery. They have motioned to revoke his license and remand him until all legal proceedings against him are completed. According to the indictment, Hirchson's blood alcohol level was found to be 29 mg over the limit.

Meanwhile, doctors at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center reported an improvement in the condition of Noam Solomon, 24, Hirchson's girlfriend, who is said to be showing signs of consciousness. Nevertheless, doctors stressed she is still in the Intensive Care Unit and in critical condition.
The defendant is accused of reckless driving which led him to crash into a pavement causing both himself and Solomon to be hurled on to the ground. Solomon's helmet broke and she suffered a serious head injury as well as spinal fractures.
Hirchson was placed under house arrest and is prohibited from leaving the country. During his interrogation, he confessed he drank beer before getting behind the wheel and expressed sorrow over his actions.
