Air Force targets Gaza terrorists

Army says it targeted terror cell planning to fire rockets at Israel Saturday evening; sources in Gaza say two missiles hit motorcycle, two Palestinians lightly wounded
Elior Levy|Updated:
The Air Force fired at a Gaza terror cell east of Rafah planning to fire rockets at Israel, IDF officials said Saturday evening.
Two missiles were fired at two terrorists riding a motorcycle, wounding them lightly, Palestinian sources said.
The identity of the wounded was not immediately clear. A spokesman for Gaza's emergency services said the two were taken to a Rafah City hospital for treatment.
Palestinian sources also reported lively traffic of Israeli aircraft above the area.
The military wings of the Islamic Jihad and of the Popular Resistance Committees rushed to issue a statement Saturday accusing Israel of blatantly violating the lull in the area.
Wednesday night, terrorists in Sinai fired three rockets at the southern resort town of Eilat; no injuries or damages were reported in that attack.
Last month, the IDF assassinated Zuhir al-Qaisi ,the secretary general of the Popular Resistance Committees terror group, by firing a missile at his vehicle. The operation was followed by a round of escalation in the area, with terror organizations firing hundreds of rockets at southern communities and IDF forces killing more than 20 Gaza terrorists.
Saturday's attempted assassination marked the first IDF strike in Gaza since the end of the latest round of escalation. At the time, Gaza terror groups claimed Israel agreed to put an end to its surgical strikes in the Strip.
