Police arrested an Israel Prison Service officer on suspicion of supplying cell phones to security prisoners in exchange for money, Ynet reported.
According to police, the security prisoners used the phones to contact relatives.
On Wednesday police representatives were expected to ask the Ramla Magistrates' Court to keep the suspect in custody for an additional eight days.
The officer, who serves at a prison in south Israel ,was arrested along with a civilian who allegedly smuggled the phones into the prison.
The officer's attorney said her client has denied the allegations and "never cooperated with security prisoners."
