An initial investigation revealed that the Ben-Yishai, serving in a medical position with Golani's 51st Squadron, was run over by Merkava 3 tank, while he was on the ground.
One of the leads being pursued is the possibility that he fell asleep at one of the maneuvers' rendezvous points, and the team, who were driving the tank in reverse, did not see him.
Sergeant Ben Yishai will be laid to rest on Thursday evening at the Ashdod Military Cemetery.
