Tayibe: Shots fired at news website's offices

Panet's offices were empty at time of attack; residents of Arab city say leaflets slandering website were distributed three months ago

Unknown gunmen fired shots early Wednesday at the offices of Arabic news website "Panet" and the "Panorama" newspaper in Tayibe .

  • 'No disputes.' Panet offices in Tayibe
Panet's management filed a police complaint and an investigation has been launched.
Panet said, "The website and newspaper have been around for years, and this is the fist time our building has been targeted. The management is not involved in any dispute.
"We received phone calls from many people who heard about the despicable act. This hurts the entire Arab sector, but it will not deter us. We fear God alone."
Tayibe residents said that three months ago leaflets that slandered the website and newspaper were distributed in the city. "The leaflets included lies that no one believed," one resident said.
