The Tel Aviv District Court on Wednesday sentenced Islam Issa ,who was convicted of murdering Aviv Morag in a rampage on the streets of Tel Aviv on Nakba day 2011, to a life sentence and an additional 40 years in prison.
"Great damage was caused and 17 people were hurt in the incident," the judges said. "The defendant was able to tell right from wrong and did not suffer from any mental condition."

The court also ordered Issa to pay Morag's family NIS 258,000 and an additional NIS 230,000 to the rest of the victims. David Morag, Aviv Morag's father took his own life a year ago.
Last July, the Tel Aviv District Court ruled that Issa had committed an act of terror when on Nakba day 2011 he carried out a terror attack using his vehicle to go on rampage in Tel Aviv, killing Aviv Morag, 29 from Givatayim.

Issa was convicted of murder, six counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault and endangering human lives.
Throughout his trial Issa claimed that the incident was a string of accidents and not a terror attack but failed to convince the judges who took into account the fact that he cried "Allahu Akbar" during the rampage.
