The defense establishment has been conducting a series of tests in recent days as part of a plan to upgrade the Iron Dome aerial defense system.

The tests were overseen by officials within the Defense Ministry's Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure, which is responsible for developing Israel's multilayered defense systems.

The Defense Ministry said that the plan aims to broaden the Iron Dome's range of capabilities so it can face threats it was previously unable to address. The assessments were completed successfully, officials said.
The Iron Dome is the world's first and only system developed to intercept short-range missiles. It was devised by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in collaboration with Elta, mPrest and the Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure.
