A 78-year-old woman was moderately injured Thursday evening when the car she was traveling in rammed into a horse. The woman, who was sitting beside the driver, was airlifted by helicopter to Haifa 'sRambam Medical Center.
Three other passengers, who were lightly wounded in the accident, were evacuated to Baruch Padeh Medical Center, Poriya. The horse did not survive the accident.

At approximately 7 pm the family's vehicle hit the horse's legs near a guardrail at the dimly-lit Eliad Junction in the southern Golan Heights .The horse collapsed on the car's roof.
- Firefighters who were alerted to the scene managed to rescue the woman from the vehicle, while the other family members stepped out of the car without any assistance.
The injured woman, a resident of central Israel ,traveled to the Golan Heights over the weekend to visit relatives.
A Magen David Adom paramedic said, "She doesn’t recall the incident, but she was fully conscious when we arrived at the scene. She suffered a blow to the skull and may have a fracture."
Deadly day
- Earlier Thursday, a 54-year-old pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run accident in northern Israel.
The Kiryat Yam resident was severely wounded when a vehicle struck him on HaAmakim Road near the Tzrif Junction in Kiryat Bialik. He was treated at the scene by MDA paramedics and was later evacuated by ambulance to Rambam while under anesthesia and connected to a respirator.
Police have launched a manhunt for the driver, who was apparently driving a white commercial Citroën vehicle.
At around noon four IDF soldiers were lightly injured when a military jeep overturned near Kibbutz Mefalsim in the Gaza-vicinity.
