Gen. Almoz enlisted to the IDF in 1985. He served in a range of units and was appointed as the commander of Battalion 605 in 1998. Following a number of other positions, he was appointed head of the West Bank Civil Administration two years ago.
Gantz announced Brig.-Gen. David Menachem will supplant Almoz in the role.
Mordechai, who in turn was promoted to coordinate IDF activity in the territories, served over two years as the IDF Spokesperson. One of the challenges of his tenure was conducting Hasbara – the advocacy of Israeli military actions – during the eight-day Pillar of Defense operation in November 2012.
