IDF drone makes emergency landing near Israel-Egypt border

Due to malfunction, drone operators land aircraft; IDF troops find drone near Israel-Egypt border

An IAF drone was landed Sunday by its operators as a result of a technical malfunction.
The IDF combed the region and found the drone near the Israel-Egypt border.

The drone was damaged as a result of the landing. The IDF is investigating the malfunction which most likely originated in the drone's engine.
This is not the first time the Israeli air force downed a drone in a controlled manner.
Two months ago, an Air Force Shoval-type drone engaged in routine activity was shot down over the sea due to an engine malfunction, as a result of which, the IAF grounded all Shoval UAVs.
  • Last year, an Eitan-type drone, Israel's largest drone, crashed near Moshav Yesodot. There were no injuries.
