The State of Israel is to pay NIS 4 million ($1.1 million) in compensation to the family of Ben Zygier ,former Mossad officer who committed suicide in the Ayalon Prison in2010, Israel's channel 2 reported Tuesday.
The amount was determined as part of a settlement reached following negotiations between the family and the Central District Prosecution.

According to Channel 2 reporter Amnon Abramovich, NIS 2.4 million ($670,000) will be paid during 2013 and then NIS 400,000 ($110,000) every year for four years.
As part of the agreement, the State of Israel does not assume responsibility for the circumstances regarding Zigyer's suicide or for any misconduct that might have taken place during the process of his recruitment to the Mossad.
Zygier took his own life in December 2010 several hours after his wife had paid him a visit, in which she told him she wanted to file for divorce.
