Some 1,000 people marched in Tel Aviv on Friday to raise awareness to the hardships the LGBT community faces in Israel .
Protesters were calling on governmental officials to recognize the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community's same-sex marriage bill proposal ,denouncing religious coercion and homophobia ,which they said are a major part of the agenda in certain parties in the coalition.

At the protest, many members of the LGBT lashed out at politicians for the unfair treatment they said they were receiving.

Last week, the Knesset passed in a preliminary reading an amendment to the country's discrimination law that would make discrimination illegal whenever there is reference to sexual orientation.
"It's not enough to continue meeting with ministers and members of Knesset," Yair Hochner said, one of the organizers of the protest. "The community needs to unify and flock to the streets in protests so that politicians understand that we are demanding equal rights as citizens in this country."
