Argentine President Javier Milei gave thanks as he lit a torch alongside President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. "I have the honor of accompanying you on Israel's 78th Independence Day - such a young state of such an ancient people," he said. "Light always triumphs over darkness, because lies and hatred always surrender to the power of truth and time. Thus we light this torch in honor of all those who fought for Israel's freedom and sovereignty. Israel has proven time and again that victory is not determined by the number of soldiers but by the forces that come from heaven." He concluded in Hebrew: "To the glory of the State of Israel."
