The Magistrate's Court sentenced engineer Hanoch Tzachar (91), who was convicted of causing the deaths of six workers through negligence in the 2016 collapse of a parking garage ceiling on Habarzel Street in Ramat Hahayal, Tel Aviv, to six months' imprisonment, suspended. Tzachar was also ordered to pay a fine of 1.2 million shekels for compensation to the families. Due to Tzachar's age and medical condition, experts appointed by the state and defense determined that an alternative to the sentence should be considered, one that does not involve removing him from his home.
