Compromise likely: Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir reach deal on death penalty for terrorists

|
A compromise is emerging between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir on the death penalty for terrorists, Ynet has learned. The compromise stipulates that the death penalty for terrorists will be written as 'mandatory' – but the courts will have discretion and will be able to exempt certain terrorists from the law, for special reasons or under special circumstances. In addition, it will be possible to appeal and request a reduced sentence.
