The Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, published in London in Arabic, reported that Hezbollah clarified to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri that it will not intervene on behalf of Iran in the event of war, a position that Berri subsequently conveyed to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. It was also reported that during his recent visit to Beirut, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh told a group of parliament members affiliated with Hezbollah and the Amal Movement that his country will not ask the organization to intervene in case of an American attack. Meanwhile, the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon issued a denial of "reports circulated in the media" regarding Khatibzadeh's recent visit to Lebanon and the content of his meetings, without specifying which reports were being referenced.
