The FBI arrested a woman named Wanying Zhang at Los Angeles International Airport, accusing her of spying on the son of Taiwanese leader Lai Ching-te for Chinese authorities. The federal police stated that the 34-year-old woman, a resident of Irvine, California, also known as "Heather," was arrested before leaving the U.S. for China. She was charged with acting as a foreign agent. The Justice Department announced that Zhang traveled to Seattle in 2025 under the direction of Chinese officials and subsequently sent them photos, video and information about the license plates of the Taiwanese president's son and his family, who reside in the U.S.
