|
The Security Cabinet has approved a plan to establish a security barrier along the eastern border and strengthen 'national presence in the Jordan Valley.' According to the Defense Ministry, the plan includes establishing a multi-layered defense system along 425 kilometers, from the southern Golan Heights to the Samar dunes north of Eilat. The system will combine physical barriers with advanced sensors, detection and warning capabilities, security components, communications, command centers and more. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that 'this is a strategic move that will strengthen national security.'
