Musician Meir Israel, the legendary drummer and member of the band Tamuz, has died after battling a serious illness. He was 73. Israel was considered one of the most central and influential figures in Israeli rock for more than five decades. He played in various bands, including Uzi and the Styles and Tamuz, and became a sought-after drummer who performed with leading artists, most notably Shlomo Artzi, alongside whom he played for decades.
